How it Happened
The Blue & Gold remained consistent as it has been this season during the doubles session with the team getting out to an early 3-0 lead in the match.
Patrick Pacheco (Fall River, Mass.) and Eli Brooks (Franklin, Mass.) were strong at the top as the duo defeated their opponents 8-0. Anthony Joseph (Achusnet, Mass.) and Tristin Viale (Westfield, Mass.) kept the momentum going with their 8-2 victory before Mark Desmond (Braintree, Mass.) and Pat O'Neil (Somerset, Mass.) sealed the doubles sweep with a tightly-contested 8-6 win.
UMass Dartmouth put the match away in singles, needing just two individual victories to advance to the next round of the postseason. Brooks was the first to finish his sets, as he coasted toward a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Zachary Mutti (Peabody, Mass.). Viale gave the team the final point in the match when he downed Michael Scollins (Marshfield, Mass.) 6-1, 6-2.
The Corsairs will travel to #2 Salem State on May 3 at 3:30 p.m. as the team looks to advance to its second consecutive LEC Championship game.
