Men's Tennis Drops Dual-Match Decision To Division II Stonehill

DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Junior Samuel Miller (Smithfield, R.I.) and sophomore Russell White (Toronto, Ont.) each claimed singles victories and teamed up for a win at number one doubles to lead Stonehill to a 9-0 sweep of a non-league college men’s tennis dual-match from UMass Dartmouth Thursday afternoon at the UMD Courts.

Miller and White dropped one game each in singles play for the visiting Skyhawks (3-0), who also received straight set victories from junior Aaron Diamond (Moultonborough, N.H.) and the freshman trio of Vincent Huynh (Champigny-sur-Marne, France), Luke Mendoza (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) and Juan Riano Rojas (Bradenton, Fla.).

Miller and White claimed an 8-0 triumph at the top doubles spot for Stonehill, which received an 8-2 win at number two from the tandem of Mendoza and sophomore Joey Conrod (Newtown, Conn.) as well as an 8-1 victory at number three from the duo of sophomores Aleksander Lazowski (Kingston, Mass.) and Jonathan Gordon (Marlboro, Mass.).

The host Corsairs fell to 0-2 in wrapping up the fall portion of their 2018-19 slate, as UMass Dartmouth begins its spring schedule on Saturday, February 16th with a non-league dual-match at Wheaton.  Stonehill wraps up its fall slate on Saturday afternoon by heading to New London, Conn. to participate in the Connecticut College Invitational.
