SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth sophomore Kevin Cutler (Attleboro, Mass.) placed fifth in the high jump to account for all four of the Corsairs' points this afternoon at the 2015 New England Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Springfield College.
MIT cruised to the team title with 129 points, while Bates (73) edged Williams (71) for second place by two markers. UMass Dartmouth finished 24th among the 26-team field.
In a highly-competitive field, Cutler cleared 1.98 meters (6-6.00) to place fifth in the 16-person field. Rhode Island College's Steven Vasquez captured the individual title with a leap of 2.16 meters (7-01.00).
Junior Justin Conor (Holden, Mass.) turned in a personal-best performance in the preliminary heat of the 60-meter hurdles, when he tripped the timer at 8.45 seconds. He posted the second fastest indoor time in program history to advance to the finals. Conor was on pace to lower his preliminary time in the finals, but was unable to complete the race.
Senior Cody Lusas (Melrose, Mass.) registered a throw of 13.39 meters (43-11.25) in the shot put to place 14th in the field.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action, when the Corsairs compete at the New England Open Championships between Feb. 27 and 28.
