NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Freshman Kaylin Miranda (Brighton, MA/O'Bryant HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Miranda has been named LEC Men's Rookie Field Athlete of the Week.
In his first collegiate meet, Saturday's Jay Carisella Invitational at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, Miranda finished seventh in the long jump at 21 feet, nine inches while competing in a field that included NCAA Division I, II and III student-athletes.
"It's a well-deserved honor, and certainly a nice start for what hopefully will be a nice four-year career," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner. "At O'Bryant High School, he practiced every day at the Reggie Lewis Center, and he has a great background in jumping that he got from his coach, Tommy Campbell, who does a great job. The whole setting was nice for him to be able to jump a personal best at home in front of his high school coach."
The Corsairs will return to action at the Harvard Open Saturday.
