Wellesley was first with 16 points. Both races were five kilometers in distance. "It was a really good day and good effort from both teams," said Corsairs head coach Jon Hird.

"The men are a really dedicated group, our top three would have been within three seconds of each other if Kevin [Gilmore] hadn't fallen in the woods," said Hird.

For the women, freshman Dekontee Chea (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford HS) finished fifth in 19:36, sophomore Meaghan Bohigian (Barre, MA/Quabbin Regional HS) was ninth in 20:42, sophomore Courtney Testa (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) finished 10th in 20:43, sophomore Megan Oliveira (Somerset, MA/Somerset HS) was 19th in 21:19, freshman Kelci Sullivan (Hanson, MA/Whitman-Hanson HS) finished 29th in 21:41, freshman Brittany Lyons (South Yarmouth, MA/Dennis-Yarmouth HS) finished 40th in 22:26, sophomore Stacey Dybel (Littleton, MA/Notre Dame Academy) was 43rd in 22:38, and junior Katie Galindo (Melrose, MA/Stoneham) finished 65th in 24:50. "We didn't really know much about [Chen], she was a revelation, she took off and pretty much led the field for the first part, Courtney didn't run cross country last year so she was a little bit of a question mark but she ran really well and Megan put in a lot of good work over the summer...we are real excited about the start of the season," said Hird.

The Corsairs will return to action when they host the annual UMass Dartmouth Invitational next Saturday.
