NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's cross country team have been honored by the Little East Conference.
Santoro was the top finisher for the Corsairs in Saturday's Connecticut College Invitational, finishing 11th in the five-mile race in 25:51. Francisco was the UMD's third finisher at the race, coming in 47th in 26:45.
"Nick has been a very pleasant surprise," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jon Hird. "We knew he was good, but we have discovered that he has a really good, intuitive sense of racing. He knows how to figure out what's going on and how to get the best out of himself. He's just quiet, and he gets the job done."
Francisco was honored for the third consecutive week. "It's sort of an axiom that you can't win with freshmen, because the thing that they sometimes lack is consistency," said Hird. "So far, Jeremy has been a model of consistency. That's important, because all of our runners need to perform well week in and week out for our team to perform well."
The Corsairs will take this weekend off, and return to action when they travel to Westfield State on Saturday, October 10th.
