NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Sophomore guard Kelsey Garrity (Somerville, MA/Somerville HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's basketball team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Garrity has been named the LEC Women's Co-Basketball Player of the Week.
Garrity led the way in the Corsairs' 69-64 win over Worcester State last Tuesday night, scoring 18 points and adding six assist and seven steals. She made six of 11 shots from the field 54.5 per cent and also blocked a shot.
"Kelsey dialed up the defensive intensity against Worcester State," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "Her steals triggered a lot of her offense, and gave her the confidence to lead the team in some tight situations. She found her open teammates and took good shots within the offense. She is a steady sophomore with a year under her belt. Kelsey is playing like she has been in big games before, and that's what we need from our floor general."
The Corsairs will return to action Tuesday evening when they host Bridgewater State.
