Colleen Moriarty Repeats as LEC Women's Player of the Week
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- For the second consecutive week, senior forward Colleen Moriarty (Canton, MA/Canton HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Once again, Moriarty has been named LEC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It's the third time this season that she has been so honored.
Moriarty averaged 28 points and 9.3 rebounds per game last week, and made 32 of 51 shots from the field for 62.7 per cent. She scored 30 points in Tuesday's win at Mount Ida, and then scored 31 of the Corsairs' 48 points in Saturday's game at Western Connecticut. She now has 1086 points for her career after scoring 84 points in three games last week.
"Colleen was outstanding last week," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "She is playing like a senior who knows her career is winding down, and she is leaving it all out on the court. The team is maximizing her strengths as much as possible down the stretch. We figure we may as well utilize our best resource, as long as she is still wearing the blue and gold. I'm very proud of all of her accomplishments. She has established her place as an elite student-athlete in UMD sports history."
The Corsairs return to action when they visit Rhode Island College Tuesday evening in the first game of a Little East Conference doubleheader.
