"We committed to leaving it all out on the court in our quest for the third seed in the tournament," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "We know we control our destiny. Eastern is a talented team and they presented a series of match up issues. Colleen did a great job of making quick moves before the double team was a factor. We shot well in the second half led by Erika Bornemann, who hit some big buckets from deep. It was great to play well and win on senior night."
UMass Dartmouth improved to 17-6 and 7-5 in the Little East Conference with the victory, while Eastern Connecticut fell to 9-14 and 7-5 in LEC action with the defeat.
The seven conference victories mark the highest Little East win total in the history of the UMD women's basketball program.
The Corsairs will return to action when they host UMass Boston in the first game of a Little East Conference doubleheader Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Connecticut will host Keene State Wednesday.
