NORTHAMPTON, MA For the second day in a row, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's basketball team has received a prestigious post-season honor.
Senior forward Colleen Moriarty (Canton, MA/Canton HS) has been named to participate in this year's New England Women's Basketball Association All-Star Classic
Moriarty was one of only 22 NCAA Division III players selected, and one of only two players chosen from the Little East Conference. She was previously named first team All-Little East Conference, and LEC Player of the Year. She was the only LEC player to receive first team All-Region honors and was one of only two Little East Conference players so honored.
"Colleen has one more chance to wear #33 for the Blue & Gold," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "We are so proud of her post-season accolades. You can't win 20 games in a season without a player like Colleen. As a program, we could not have achieved our success without her on the floor. She has had a memorable career, and this is a nice way to shine one more time among the best seniors in New England."
The NEWBA Senior All-Star Game will be played at Western New England University on Saturday, March 23rd at 1:00 p.m.
Moriarty helped lead the Corsairs to their most successful season ever, as they won a school-record total of 20 games and eight conference games, and advanced to the LEC championship game for the first time, finishing with a 20-8 record.
