NORTHAMPTON, MA For the fourth time this week, a member of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's basketball team has received a prestigious post-season honor.
Senior forward Colleen Moriarty (Canton, MA/Canton HS) has been named second team All-Northeast Region by the New England Women's Basketball Association.
Moriarty was one of only 10 players named All-Northeast Region, and one of only two from the Little East Conference. She was previously named first team All-Little East Conference, LEC Player of the Year, was named ECAC All-Region and was selected to participate in the NEWBA Senior All-Star Game.
"Colleen shines bright among another talented group of young women in the Northeast," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "She is not an individual that's comfortable with all of this attention, but her accomplishments have landed her in the spotlight. She deserves the recognition for accomplishing more than any other player in women's basketball program history."
Moriarty helped lead the Corsairs to their most successful season ever, as they won a school-record total of 20 games and eight conference games, and advanced to the LEC championship game for the first time, finishing with a 20-8 record.
