Position: Head Coach

Amanda Van Voorhis enters her sixth season as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at UMass Dartmouth. Van Voorhis looks to continue molding the program into a championship contender. Following the 2011-2012 season and a 15-11 record, which was the program's' first winning season in 19 years, more records fell in the 2012-2013 campaign as the team posted a 20-8 mark. The 20 victories was an all-time best, and the Corsairs made their' first-ever appearance in the Little East Championship game.

Van Voorhis was recently promoted to Interim Director of Athletics in October of 2013.  She had been serving in the capacity of Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator since March of 2012. A former Brown University Assistant Coach and the former Head Coach at Salve Regina University, Van Voorhis took over the Corsairs prior to the 2008-09 season.

In each of the last five seasons, UMass Dartmouth has advanced in the Little East Conference standings, moving from eighth to third place in regular season finishes. Erika Bornemann was named Rookie of the Year following the 2010-2011 season. Last winter, Colleen Moriarty was named LEC Player of the Year, and garnered multiple regional honors.

Van Voorhis, who succeeded Mick Klitzner, was hired after a national search that was conducted when the position was made full-time. She is the first full-time Head Women's Basketball Coach at UMass Dartmouth since Judy Sullivan completed a 16-year stint at the end of the 1992-93 season. Van Voorhis also oversees scheduling, transportation, and the assignment of officials for the Corsair athletic department.

Van Voorhis joined the Corsairs after one year as an Assistant Coach at Brown. Previously, she compiled a record of 143-51 in seven seasons as the Head Coach at Salve Regina University. Her teams at Salve won four Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships, advancing to the NCAA Division III Tournament on each occasion. Following the 2001-2002 season, Van Voorhis was named CCC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year and was a New England Women's Basketball Association Coach of the Year nominee. She was named Cox Media Rhode Island Women's Basketball Coach of the Year following the 2006-2007 season. While at Salve, she led her teams to four 20 plus win seasons, six winning campaigns, and improved from a 12-13 record during her first year to a 24-5 mark in her second season. Van Voorhis holds an overall 199-127 coaching record in her 12 seasons as a Head Coach.

A Massachusetts native, Van Voorhis graduated from Millis High School and played basketball while studying Physical Education at Springfield College. Following her graduation, she earned her M.S. in Athletic Administration at Springfield while beginning her career at Western New England College. She served as an Assistant Coach for two seasons at WNEC before moving on to Ithaca as an Assistant Coach for the 1999-2000 season. While she was at Ithaca, the Bombers went 21-7, were co-champions of the Empire Eight Conference, and also won the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association and the Eastern College Athletic Conference Upstate New York Championships.
