NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA -Senior forward Vicki Andruszkiewicz (Danvers, MA/Danvers HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's basketball team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Andruszkiewicz has been named Little East Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
Andruszkiewicz averaged 22.7 points in three games last week, leading the Corsairs to a win against Pine Manor last Thursday evening that broke a 10-game losing streak. She scored 25 points twice last week-once against the Gators, and again on Saturday when UMass Dartmouth lost to Plymouth State, 81-73. Andruszkiewicz made 10 of 20 shots from the field, including five three-point goals, against Pine Manor. For the week, she made 23 of 55 shots from the field for 41.9 per cent, and also averaged 5.3 rebounds per game.
"Vicki showed a lot of poise and composure against Pine Manor," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "Her following that up with another good performance against a conference opponent was even more impressive. If we can get the ball to our best shooters, we are capable of scoring more points."
UMass Dartmouth is 3-12 overall, and 0-5 in LEC play. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Rhode Island College in the first game of a Little East Conference doubleheader Tuesday evening.
