NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Senior forward Tashauna Ashmeade (Hyannis, MA/Barnstable HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's basketball team has received another post-season honor.
Ashmeade will represent the Corsairs at the New England Women's Basketball Association Senior All-Star Classic. The game will be played Saturday afternoon, March 26th at Western New England College.
One of 22 players selected in a vote of coaches in the region, Ashmeade is one of four players representing the Little East Conference, joining Heather Lee, Karli Spera and Melissa Teel of Western Connecticut State.
Ashmeade finished her career as the fifth leading scorer for the Corsairs with 1,090 points. A member of the team for four years, she averaged 11.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, ranking third in scoring among Corsairs and second in rebounding while serving as a team captain.
"The NEWBA Senior All Star Classic is a great way for Tashauna to wrap up her career," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amanda Van Voorhis. "She is excited to wear the blue and gold one more time and represent UMass Dartmouth women's basketball as one of the outstanding seniors in the New England region. Tashauna is honored to receive this recognition and looks forward to taking the court alongside her peers."
The Corsairs finished fifth in the Little East Conference this year and advanced to the first round of the playoffs.
