UMass Dartmouth Blanks Framingham State, 3-0

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team shut out visiting Framingham State in their first Little East Conference match of the season at Cressy Field Saturday afternoon, 3-0.     

The Corsairs' senior forward Eleanor Taylor (Fairhaven, MA / Bishop Stang) scored the only goal of the first half. She was assisted by senior defender Tori Dolce (Jamestown, RI / North Kingstown) with 16:05 remaining.

In the second half, UMass Dartmouth added two more goals to their 1-0 lead. With 26:31 on the clock, Alison Ladue (Bridgewater, MA / Bridgewater-Raynham) scored on an assist from Taylor. The third and final goal of the contest was an unassisted score by freshman midfielder Hunter Carden (Branford, CT / Branford). Time remaining in regulation was 21:46.

 Framingham State's goalkeeper Sarah Palace (Auburn, MA / Auburn) had seven saves, while
the Corsairs' goalkeeper, Lauren O'Brien (Rochester, MA / Old Rochester Regional), had one. 
 "Every team in the Little East is going to play us differently," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Nicole Maher. "Framingham plays us a different style. They took us off our game. We made a few adjustments and delivered on three (goals). We will watch film and walk away with this as a learning experience."
 The Corsairs improved to 2-2 overall and are 1-0 in the LEC. The Rams dropped to 3-1 overall and are 0-1 in the LEC. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Clark Tuesday evening. Framingham State will host Daniel Webster Monday.
