NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth field hockey team were honored by the Little East Conference office this afternoon for their performances at the inaugural Johnson & Wales Invitational this past weekend.
Junior Jill Levrault (Somerset, Mass.) was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman Erin Kish (Littleton, Mass.) was named the Rookie of the Week.
Levrault led the Corsairs in the scoring column with five points, on two goals and an assist, to help UMass Dartmouth open the 2014 campaign with a 1-1 mark. The Somerset, Mass. native sparked the Corsairs' dramatic come-from-behind victory at Johnson & Wales on Saturday night, netting the game-tying goal with less than eight minutes remaining on the clock. She capped the comeback with the decisive marker in the ninth minute of overtime to hand the visitors' their first win of the season. The previous evening, Levrault tallied a helper on UMass Dartmouth's first goal of the contest against Wheaton (Mass.).
Kish made an immediate impact in her first two collegiate games, registering two goals for four points. The Littleton, Mass. product found the back of the net in her collegiate debut against Wheaton (Mass.) on Friday night, scoring the equalizer in the 50th minute. The following evening, she gave the Corsairs an early 1-0 lead at Johnson & Wales, recording her second goal of the season less than seven minutes into the contest.
UMass Dartmouth will return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, when the Corsairs travel to Trinity College (Conn.) for an important non-conference match.
