WELLESLEY, Mass. – UMass Dartmouth's Katelin Morrissey (Taunton, Mass.) struck first, but the Blue responded with five unanswered goals on Thursday evening as the Corsairs fell in the season finale, 5-1 on the road to host Wellesley
Score: Wellesley 5, UMass Dartmouth 1
Records: Wellesley (10-7) | UMass Dartmouth (7-12)
How it Happened
Early in the first half, junior Erin Kish (Littleton, Mass.) found Morrissey on a reverse pass, who fired the score past Blue goalkeeper Lucy Hurlock (Needham, Mass.) in the 12th minute.
The Blue then rebounded in a big way, striking often until midway through the second half for five goals, four of which were unassisted. Six minutes after Morrissey's goal, Nikki Sharkin (Summit, N.J.) put in the first of her two goals, sending the pass from Cecie Negron (Midlothian, Va.) pas UMass Dartmouth keeper Ariel St. Germaine (Wareham, Mass.)
Negron notched the eventual game-winner before the break, and Sharkin tallied her second score for the Blue five minutes into the second half. Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) would finish off the game, giving the Blue two more goals within eight minutes as the hosts outshot UMass Dartmouth 20-9 on the contest.
