PAWTUCKET, R.I. – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) collected Little East Conference Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Monday, following a career performance in the cage on Saturday.
In the Corsairs’ season-opener against MIT, Burke turned aside a career-high 37 shots to keep UMass Dartmouth within shouting distance. Despite the Corsairs ultimately falling 4-0 to the Engineers, Burke’s total is the highest single-game mark since Sceana Golden’s 29-save performance against Trinity on Sept. 17, 2008.
Burke increased her previous career high of 16 saves, which she recorded on against Plymouth State on Oct. 17, 2015. She now owns 171 career saves in three seasons.
UMass Dartmouth looks to right the ship on Thursday as LEC play begins. The Corsairs travel to Western Connecticut for a 6 p.m. start.
