PAWTUCKET R.I. – University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Allison Burke (Franklin, Mass.) earned her third Goalkeeper of the Week honor from the Little East Conference office on Monday after leading her team toward a 2-1 record in the past week’s competition.
The week began on Oct. 10 as Burke turned away 11 shots from Framingham State in 57:43 minutes of action with the Corsairs cruising toward a 5-0 shutout of the conference foe. On Oct. 12th against Bridgewater State, she continued her stellar play, notching her third consecutive victory when she turned away seven shots to save away the Bears by a 4-3 final. The week concluded Saturday against the second-ranked team in LEC, Plymouth State. The Panthers peppered Burke with 24 shots in the game, but she came away with 11 saves, allowing just two goals in the Corsairs shutout loss.
In 2017, Burke has already set a new career-high in saves with 130 for the season. That number has her deadlocked for the top spot in the conference, with her .818 save percentage positioning her second amongst all net minders in the LEC.
