NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Junior Eleanor Taylor (Fairhaven, MA/Bishop Stang HS) has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Taylor has been named LEC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week. It's the first time a Corsair player has won a conference field hockey award this year. Taylor was honored by the LEC twice last season.
Taylor scored five goals and added one assist for 11 points in two matches last week as the Corsairs defeated LEC opponents Worcester State and Salem State. She scored the game-winning goal in each match, and scored a three-goal hat trick and added an assists against the Vikings. She is UMD's leading scorer this season with 10 goals and two assists for 22 points.
"I'm very happy for Eleanor, she has sacrificed a lot for the team this season," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Nicole Castonguay. "She's played defense, she's played midfield, and now, because we've had some people step up, we've been able to move her back up to the forward line. Eleanor is one of the hardest workers I've ever seen, her talent is amazing, and I'm glad she's getting this recognition."
The Corsairs are 5-4 and 4-1 in the Little East Conference. They will return to action when they host Eastern Connecticut State Tuesday evening.
