NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Junior forward Stephanie Kinchla (Falmouth, MA/Falmouth HS/Quinnipiac) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's field hockey team has been honored by the Little East Conference.
Kinchla has been named LEC Offensive Player of the Week.
Kinchla led the Corsairs with two goals and two assists for six points last week. She scored the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke in Sunday's 3-2, Little East Conference victory against Salem State after assisting on the first two goals. She also scored the first goal in a 3-1 LEC win against Fitchburg State last Tuesday evening, and leads UMD in scoring for the season with 11 goals and three assists for 25 points.
"Coming back after being the Offensive Player of the Year in the conference, as Stephanie has done this year, makes it more difficult," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Nicole Castonguay. "The spotlight is on you, and the other team will put their best defender on you. Stephanie is unselfish in front of the goal, when she gets the ball and can't score, she will pass it to someone who can. She has amazing talent and is definitely a team player. It takes a tough player to go through being double-teamed all the time. I'm proud of her, she deserved this award."
The Corsairs are 6-4, 4-1 in LEC play. They will return to action when they visit Worcester State Tuesday evening. UMASS DARTMOUTH FIELD HOCKEY
