Mount Holyoke Outscores Women's Lacrosse, 15-3
CLERMONT, FL-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team fell to Mount Holyoke, 15-3, in their 2013 spring trip opener at the National Training Center Monday.
The Lyons scored the first 11 goals of the game before UMass Dartmouth freshman attacker Colleen Kane (Arlington, MA/Arlington HS) broke the streak, scoring the Corsairs' lone goal of the first half with 1:45 remaining. Kane and sophomore midfielder Madison Reilly (Bridgewater, MA/Bridgewater-Raynham HS) scored for UMD in the second half.
"Our game plan was not executed until the very end of the second half," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Sarah Booker. "We knew that we would have to work hard breaking apart the Mt. Holyoke defense and use every opportunity to the fullest. We will learn from this game and look to improve our performance on Thursday when we play Western New England."
The Lyons outshot the Corsairs, 31-11. Senior goalkeeper Angelina Donovan (Medford, MA/Medford HS) made nine saves for UMD, while Liz Malenfant and Aune Mitchell combined to make four stops for Mount Holyoke.
UMass Dartmouth dropped to 2-1 with the defeat, while Mount Holyoke improved to 4-1 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they play Western New England Thursday. The Lyons will play Southern Maine Friday.
