PAWTUCKET, R.I. – In a 2-0 week between the posts for the Corsairs, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth junior Kaitlyn Burchill (Bridgewater, Mass.) was awarded Little East Conference (LEC) Goalie of the Week for her efforts between Apr. 15-21.
The junior net minder submitted 86:12 of action in goal in the pair of victories for the squad. She did not allow a goal in the victory over conference opponent Rhode Island College, while the host offense took care of business on the other end of the field for a commanding 15-1 triumph. With the win, UMass Dartmouth defended Cressy turf for the seventh straight home contest as its last defeat had not been since the home opener on Feb. 24 versus Johnson & Wales (RI).
Burchill then came back on Saturday to make 11 saves as part of the weekend triumph over Emmanuel (Mass.), earning her ninth victory of the season to surpass her past two season totals (eight in each). With the weekend win, she improved her career record to 25-22 for the Blue and Gold.
The third-year Corsair stands in the top-three of the LEC in saves, save percentage, and goals against average. Her first award came earlier this season on Mar. 12.
UMass Dartmouth competes in its penultimate regular season contest on the road Tuesday night, battling LEC opponent Western Connecticut at 7 p.m. The squad will then host Senior Day this Saturday, Apr. 28, against Eastern Connecticut at 1 p.m.
