WEST PALM BEACH, FL-Clarkson scored 12 goals in the second half and went on to defeat the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team, 17-6, in the second and final game of the Corsairs' 2009 spring trip at Lake Lytal Field Thursday afternoon.
The Golden Knights, who led at halftime, 5-1, scored 12 times in the second half to put the game out of reach.
"We gave up some early goals that really set the tone for the game," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jerry Jennings. "We scored some goals late. Clarkson is a very big team, and they had an outstanding goalie. She stopped just about everything we threw at her. Our defense played pretty well. (Junior) Liz Miller (Littleton, MA/Westford Academy/New Hampshire) came in when we changed goalies and did a good job for someone with no experience and in their first time in the position."
The Corsairs dropped to 0-3 with the defeat, while the Golden Knights improved to 2-1 with the victory. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Salve Regina Monday.
