NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's lacrosse team has been picked to finish sixth in the Little East Conference this year.
The Corsairs, who finished sixth in the LEC last season, received 13 points in the LEC's annual pre-season poll.
Keene State received six of the seven first place votes and was picked to finish first with 48 points. Eastern Connecticut State received the other first place vote, and was picked to tie for second with Western Connecticut State, each receiving 33 points, while defending champion Southern Maine was picked to finish fourth with 31 points. Plymouth State was picked fifth with 25 points, and Rhode Island College was picked seventh with nine points.
"We hope to move up and go deeper into the playoffs this year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Jerry Jennings. "We're very pleased with our team's development so far. I think the league will be much more balanced this year, and, if we stay healthy, we'll be as competitive as anyone."
The Corsairs are 1-3 and will host Worcester State Wednesday.
