NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA -The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer and field hockey teams are planning a special presentation for their home doubleheader next weekend.
They are presenting a program called "Play, Believe, Achieve" in connection with National Girls and Women in Sport Day.
Activities will begin with the Little East Conference field hockey match between UMass Dartmouth and Bridgewater State next Saturday at 12 noon at Cressy Field. While the field hockey match takes place, the women's soccer team will hold a free youth soccer clinic on the grass soccer field, behind Cressy Field at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex.
Following the field hockey match and clinic, the women's soccer team will host Southern Maine in another Little East Conference match at Cressy Field. Following that match, players will be signing autographs and they will meet and greet the fans, which will be joined by Arnie, the Corsair mascot.
Play, Believe, Achieve is a Title IX event, and the women's soccer and field hockey teams are celebrating women in sport," said UMass Dartmouth Head Women's Soccer Coach Nicole Hanewich. "We are reaching out to local communities to find young girls to participate in the event and attend our free youth clinic prior to the women's soccer game. It is important for our student-athletes to serve as role models for young girls who aspire to be strong, healthy, active women in the future."
The Corsairs are looking for youth players to participate in the day's events. For more information, please contact Head Women's Soccer Coach Nicole Hanewich at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 508-999-8842.
