Pierce, Silvia, and Van Ness Earn All-LEC Awards

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's soccer team had three players represented on the 2013 All-Little East Conference Women's Soccer Teams.

Seniors Tori Pierce (Tiverton, R.I.) and Sam Silvia (Dighton, Mass.) were selected to the All-Little East First Team, while classmate Jillian Van Ness (Agawam, Mass.) made the Second Team, respectively.

Pierce was the top offensive threat for UMass Dartmouth this past season. The Tiverton, R.I. native generated 19 points (5th in the LEC), which was comprised of six goals and seven assists. Pierce started all 21 games and served as one of three captains for the Corsair team.

Silvia, who made the All-Little East Second Team in 2012, was a key contributor for a Corsair defense that recorded nine shutouts on season, which tied for second best in the Little East. The senior defensive back started in all 21 games, contributed three assists on the offensive end and served long side Pierce as a captain for the 2013 team.

Van Ness started in all 21 games and aided Pierce in the offensive attack. The senior forward ranked tied for tenth in the conference with four assists and was tied as the second leading goal scorer for the Corsairs with five.

UMass Dartmouth had one of their most memorable seasons in the program's history. The 2013 women's soccer team posted the highest regular season win total (11) since 1994 and earned the first Little East Tournament win in the program's history with a 2-1 victory over Southern Maine in the opening round.
