Tori Pierce Named To NEWISA All-New England Teams

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- University of Massachusetts Dartmouth senior Tori Pierce (Tiverton, R.I.) was recently named to the 2013 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division III All-New England third team. 

Pierce was one of 41 student-athletes to represent their institution on the NEWISA All-New England teams.  Twelve players were selected to the first and second teams, while 17 athletes garnered third-team accolades.

Pierce is making her debut on the NEWISA All-New England teams after making her first appearance on the All-Little East first-team. She ranked among the conference leaders in assists (4th, 7), points (5th, 19), and goals (10th, 6).  Pierce sat atop the Corsair scoring leaderboard with a career-high 19 points.  A starter in all 21 matches, she cracked the scoring column nine times.  She recorded at least one marker in five matches, including a season-high two goals at Wentworth.  Pierce matched her highest scoring performance against Rhode Island College, registering a marker and two assists for four points.  She delivered the decisive score at Wentworth (Sept. 18) and Southern Maine (Oct. 5). Pierce was named the Little East Offensive Player of the Week once on the campaign.

In 58 career matches, Pierce accounted for 32 career points, on 11 goals and 10 assists.  She tallied five points, including a pair of goals, as a junior, while producing eight points as a sophomore.   

Under the direction of Nicole Ross, UMass Dartmouth posted an overall record of 12-8-1, including a 4-3 mark inside the Little East circuit.  The Corsairs registered their second consecutive season with at least 10 victories.  UMass Dartmouth earned the No. 3 seed in the annual conference tournament, marking the first time in program history that UMD hosted a home playoff game.  The Corsairs defeated sixth-seeded Southern Maine, 2-1, before bowing out to the eventual champions, Keene State College, in the semifinal round.
