Women’s Soccer Garners United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY – The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women’s soccer program was recognized late last week by United Soccer Coaches (formerly the NSCAA) as one of 546 teams across all three Divisions to earn the Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 academic year.

UMass Dartmouth was the only women’s team in the Little East Conference to earn such recognition. In order to garner the Team Academic Award, a squad must post a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher for the academic year. Under head coach Kate Thomas, the Corsairs posted a 3.35 GPA as a unit last year. 2016-17 marks the second-straight year under Coach Thomas that UMass Dartmouth has collected the award from the national coaches’ organization.

Individually, UMass Dartmouth saw 10 team members earn Little East Conference Fall All-Academic honors in 2016, including current players Madison Boucher (Southampton, Mass.), Becca Field (Brentwood, N.H.), Kayla Loycano (Chelmsford, Mass.), Alyssa Martins (Ludlow, Mass.) and Liz Stearns (Medway, Mass.).
