Dartmouth, Mass. -- Four members of the UMass Dartmouth women’s soccer team earned spots on the 2018 Little East all-conference squad that was announced earlier today by the league office, as junior midfielder Ella Rath and sophomore goalie Jaimee O’Brien collected first team honors while senior back Kayla Loycano and junior midfielder Nerida Montrond copped second team accolades.
Rath, a native of Pawcatuck, Conn. and a graduate of Stonington High School, ranked fifth in the conference with 10 goals and a pair of assists for 22 points, as four of her tallies proved to be game-winners for the Corsairs. O’Brien, a native of West Springfield, Mass. and a graduate of West Springfield High School, ranked third in the league with 101 saves while posting a 1.20 goals against average and five shutouts in net, as her .828 saves percentage ranked fourth in Little East action.
Loycano, a native of Chelmsford, Mass. and a graduate of Chelmsford High School, anchored UMass Dartmouth’s defensive corps that registered six team shutouts and a 1.31 team goals against average, as the Corsairs allowed one or fewer goals in 13 of 20 contests played. Montrond, a Lynn, Mass. resident and a graduate of Brockton High School, netted three goals and five assists for 11 points this fall, including a pair of tallies in a 2-2 double overtime draw at UMass Boston on September 29th.
UMass Dartmouth posted seven victories and five ties under first-year Head Coach Elise Cloutier during the 2018 campaign, including a 3-2-3 slate in Little East play. The Corsairs earned their eighth straight conference post-season berth, falling to Southern Maine in the league quarterfinal round.
