NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Freshman midfielder Shannon Rhinehart (Randolph, MA/Randolph HS) scored twice and added two assists and freshman goalkeeper Jen Warren (Somerset, MA/Bishop Feehan HS) recorded her first shutout of the season as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team blanked visiting City College of New York, 6-0, in a non-conference game at the UMD Athletic Complex Saturday afternoon.
Rhinehart converted a pass from junior forward Cristal Peixoto (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) in the box and scored with 14 seconds remaining in the first half to give the Corsairs a 2-0 lead. She scored the final goal of the match on a free kick in the 84th minute.
Rhinehart assisted on goals by sophomore forward Katie Doherty (Tewksbury, MA/Tewksbury HS) and Peixoto in the first 15 minutes of the second half as UMD increased its advantage to 4-0. Freshman forward Jamie Ledin (Bridgewater, MA/West Bridgewater HS) scored the Corsairs' first goal in the 36th minute and assisted on a goal by senior midfielder Caitlin McCleary (Quincy, MA/North Quincy HS) with 8:05 remaining.
UMD out shot the Beavers, 35-2. Warren made two saves, while junior Rina Tatis (Bronx, NY) and senior Emily Elliott (Los Angeles, CA) combined to make 14 for CCNY. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Salve Regina Tuesday. UMASS DARTMOUTH SOCCER
