NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA- Senior defender Kelsey Boothby (Holbrook, MA/Holbrook HS) scored on a free kick with 1:38 remaining in double overtime to give the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team a 1-0 victory over visiting Smith in a non-conference game at Cressy Field Saturday afternoon.
Boothby connected on her shot for the only goal of the game after the Pioneers were whistled for a foul.
UMD out shot Smith, 15-8. Junior goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA/Hudson HS) and freshman keeper Jen Warren (Somerset, MA/Bishop Feehan HS) each made two saves for the Corsairs, while sophomore Lindsay Gregor (Bradenton, FL) made eight stops for the Pioneers.
UMass Dartmouth improved to 3-2 with the victory, while Smith fell to 1-2 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit MIT Tuesday. The Pioneers will host Wesleyan Wednesday, .
