NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team lost to visiting Plymouth State, 2-0, in a Little East Conference match at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Saturday.

Plymouth State was first to put points on the scoreboard with just under 25 minutes left in the first half. Junior midfielder Sammi Jo Saltalamacchia (Sandown, NH/Timberlane Regional HS) gathered a rebound following a saved shot and fired the second chance opportunity past Corsair senior goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA/Hudson HS), giving the Panthers an early 1-0 edge. The Corsairs maintained possession a significant amount of time but failed to even the score going into halftime.

With 18:33 remaining in the contest, Huskies junior midfielder Sam Laliberte (Concord, NH/Concord HS) put the game out of reach when she scored unassisted, increasing the PSU lead to 2-0. UMD unleashed an onslaught of shots on goal during the final period but none made it past Panthers junior goalkeeper Angelina LaBroad (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet HS), locking up the 2-0 win for Plymouth State.

"It was really unfortunate, we dominated the game but we just can't catch a break," said Corsairs Head Coach Nicole Hanewich. "We played hard today, we all worked together, we all had positive attitudes coming into the game, had a good warmup, had high energy and I thought we played great today, and I can't ask for anything more than that, it's just really disappointing," continued Hanewich. "We have a lot of work to do this week, so we are going to work really hard this week and come out prepared on Saturday."

The Corsairs outshot the Panthers, 22-11, during the contest. Braga made six saves for UMD while LaBroad made 11 for Plymouth State.

UMass Dartmouth fell to 3-12-0 and 0-5 in the Little East Conference with the loss, while PSU improved to 6-8 and 2-3 in LEC play with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they host Eastern Connecticut State next Saturday. The Panthers will host Bridgewater State Tuesday.
