Tanya Braga Earns Little East Conference Honors

Sept. 21, 2009

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Junior goalkeeper Tanya Braga (Hudson, MA/Hudson HS) of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team has been honored by the Little East Conference.

Braga has been named LEC Goalkeeper of the Week. She's the second Corsair goalkeeper to receive the honor this season. Freshman keeper Jen Warren (Somerset, MA/Bishop Feehan HS) was honored two weeks ago.

Braga made four saves and shut out Rhode Island College in the Little East Conference opener for both teams Saturday. In two matches last week, she allowed two goals, posted a 1.33 goals against average, and made 10 saves for an .833 save percentage.

"I'm really excited for Tanya," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Carla DeSantis. "It was her first full game shutout of the year. She directed the defense well and made a couple of big saves to preserve the shutout. It was good to get our first conference win."

The Corsairs are 3-3-0 and will return to action when they visit Connecticut College Tuesday.
