Boothby, Rhinehart Earn LEC Post-Season Honors

Nov. 12, 2009

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Two members of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's soccer team have received post-season honors from the Little East Conference.

Senior defender Kelsey Boothby (Holbrook, MA/Holbrook HS) and freshman midfielder Shannon Rhinehart (Randolph, MA/Randolph HS) have been named second team All-LEC.

Rhinehart led the Corsairs in scoring with six goals and five assists for 17 points, while Boothby ranked third with six goals and two assists for 14 points.

"I'm pleased that we had two players honored, one at each end of the spectrum," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Carla DeSantis. "I'm pleased that the coaches in the conference recognized that we have talented players who have contributed throughout this season. Kelse has been a mainstay in the back. Every time she has stepped on the field she has remained there. She was our set play specialist, she scored off a bunch of free kicks and corner kicks, she was a dominant force on the field, and she will be greatly missed. Shannon came in and made an impact, being one of four of our freshmen who rceeived major minutes. She is very talented, and I look forward to having her for another three seasons."

UMass Dartmouth finished the season at 6-12-1 and went 2-5 and tied for fifth in the Little East Conference.
