Softball Falls Twice in Florida

FORT MYERS, FL-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team dropped their softball doubleheader at the Gene Cusic Classic Wednesday, losing to the College of Wooster, 10-0 in five innings, and Amherst, 8-1 , at the Lee County Sports Complex.

The Corsairs got six hits in the twin bill. Freshman outfielder Samantha Gregoire (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) went two for three against Amherst, while freshman infielder Jenna Sylvia (New Bedford, MA/New Bedford HS) was one for three. Freshman right fielder Becky Williams (Hope Valley, RI/Chariho HS) got the Corsairs' only hit in the opener, a two-out double to left field in the top of the fifth inning.

Senior right hander Ashley Felaccio (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford HS/Massasoit CC) took the loss against the Scots, allowing 10 hits in four innings of work in the opener.  Senior right-hander Brittany Eldridge (Raynham, MA/Bridgewater-Raynham HS) pitched a complete game in the nightcap. .

UMass Dartmouth is now 1-5, while Wooster is 11-4 and Amherst is 8-0.  The Corsairs will return to action when they play the University of New England and St. Olaf Thursday.
