March 10, 2011
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team has been picked to finish eighth in the annual Little East Conference pre-season coaches' poll.
The Corsairs received eight points in the voting, 15 points behind Southern Maine, who was picked to finish seventh. Defending champion Eastern Connecticut State was picked to finish first, receiving seven of the eight first place votes and 63 points. Keene State was picked second with one first place vote and 56 points. Rhode Island College, Western Connecticut State, Plymouth State and UMass Boston were chosen third through sixth, respectively.
"Our pre-season ranking doesn't surprise me after we went 0-14 in the conference last year," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Amy Sasin. "The overall ranking came out a I thought it would. It won't have any impact on how we play. This is the Little East, and anything can happen."
