NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's softball team has been picked to finish seventh in this year's pre-season Little East Conference Coaches' Poll.
The Corsairs received 15 points in the poll, two points ahead of UMass Boston and seven points behind Southern Maine.
Eastern Connecticut received five first place votes and was picked to finish first, while Rhode Island College was chosen to finish second.
"I'm not surprised to see the way the poll came out, based on what happened last year and the year before," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Kelly Roy-Sale. "This year, we're going to be more experienced and more competitive, and I hope to see us move up in the ranks a little bit more. A lot of teams lost key players to graduation, and we didn't. We also gained some key players, so, hopefully, we'll be able to move up."
The Corsairs went 1-7 on their spring trip and will begin northern play next Tuesday, March 24th against Fitchburg State.
