Women's Swimmers Outscored by Eastern Connecticut, 151-120
NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's swimming team fell to visiting Eastern Connecticut State, 151-120, in their final home meet of the season on Senior Day at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday.
For the Corsairs, freshman Caroline Corcoran (West Boylston, MA/ West Boylston) was first in both the 100 yard butterfly (1:05.26) and the 50 yard butterfly (29.49 seconds), senior Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) took the 200 yard freestyle in her final home meet in 2:03.57, and sophomore Brooke Garvey (North Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) won both the one-meter diving competition (156.60 points) and the three-meter diving competition (148.87 points).
"We had some good swims today against Eastern, who has one of the stronger women's teams in New England," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "It was Senior Day, and I appreciate the effort that our six graduating seniors gave during this meet and throughout the season so far. We just wrapped up double sessions yesterday, so we are swimming tired and looking forward to taper and to the championships."
UMass Dartmouth's women dropped to 5-2 with the defeat, while ECSU improved to 4-1 with the victory. The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Gordon Tuesday evening. The Warriors will host Roger Williams next Saturday.
