Kovach Earns Second Little East Women's Swimming Rookie Of The Week Honor

UMass Dartmouth freshman standout Maddie Kovach earned her second Little East Conference Women’s Swimming Rookie of the Week honor of the young season on Monday morning for her efforts in a pair of events for the Corsairs last week.

Kovach, a native of Oxford, Conn. and a graduate of Oxford High School, posted a trio of fourth place finishes in the 50 (30.12) and 100 (1:07.50) yard backstroke as well as the 100 yard individual medley (1:07.95) last Saturday afternoon at the Seventh Annual Louise Goodrum Invitational that took place at the Tripp Natatorium, and she also swam the lead legs in the runner-up 200 yard freestyle relay (1:49.13) and fifth place 200 yard medley relay (2:02.50) in the competition.  Maddie, who also earned the LEC Rookie award back on October 16th, helped UMass Dartmouth capture the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:31.27 in last Tuesday’s home dual-meet setback to Bridgewater State.

Head Coach Cathy Motta’s squad returns to action on Saturday, November 10th when the Corsairs welcome Roger Williams to the Tripp Natatorium for dual-meet action beginning at 1:00 pm EST.
