Swimmers Defeat Plymouth State, 162-123

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's swimming team outscored visiting Plymouth State, 162-123, at the Tripp Athletic Center Saturday.
Senior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) won three events, taking the 50 yard breaststroke in 33.72 seconds, the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:13.37, and the 200 yard individual medley in 2:25.02. Freshman Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) won the 100 yard butterfly in 1:04.38, the 100 yard freestyle in 58.22 seconds, and the 50 yard butterfly in 28.69 seconds. Sophomore Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/ Billerica HS) won the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:38.34, and the 500 yard freestyle in 5:39.88. Freshman Meredith Maki (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional HS) took the 100 yard backstroke in 1:07.20, and freshman Cecilia Rius (Rockville, MD/Richard MontgomeryHS) won both the one meter diving with 202.10 points, and the three meter diving with 169.20 points. The 200 yard medley relay team of Maki, Foley, Cooper and freshman Maggie Conlon (Methuen, MA/Methuen HS) finished first in 2:01.48.
"We had some good swims today," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "The team is still really tired, and still maintaining quality swims. We hope to hold on for our last meet against Colby-Sawyer, and head into our taper for championships next month."
UMass Dartmouth's women are now 5-5, while PSU is now 6-2.
The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Colby-Sawyer next Saturday. The Panthers will host Simmons next Saturday.
