Women's Swimming 13th after First Day at NEISDA Championships

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's swimming team is in 13th place in a 21-team field after the first day of action at the three-day New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Division II and III Championships at the Tripp Athletic Center.
The Corsairs scored 73 points. Keene State is in first place with 330 points.
Four Corsair swimmers, one diver, and two relay teams were in Friday evening's finals.
Junior Kathleen Foley (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill HS) was seventh in the 200 yard individual medley in 2:22.26, senior Lisa Sands (Taunton, MA/Taunton HS/UMass) was 11th in the 100 yard freestyle in 1:05.78, freshman Brittany Dupuis (Milford, MA/Milford HS) was 14th in the 50 yard freestyle in 26.89 seconds and sophomore Lindsay Little (Danvers, MA/Danvers HS) was 15th in 26.99 seconds, and sophomore Kelly Channell (Beverly, MA/Beverly HS) was 12th in one-meter diving with 293.20 points. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Little, freshman Natalie Brochu (Hopedale, MA/Hopedale HS), Kewriga and Dupuis was 16th in 1:49.52, and the 400 yard medley relay team of Kewriga, Foley, Sands and Dupuis was 10th in 4:24.42.
"We swam great at night, everyone swam their best times," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. We are hoping to carry our momentum through the four sessions we have left."
The meet will continue Saturday and conclude Sunday.
