NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's swimming team finished fourth in a seven-team field at the Little East Championships Saturday at the Tripp Athletic Center.
The Corsairs scored 201 points. Keene State finished first with 449 points.
The top performers included freshman Chelsea Hopkins-Pottle (Brockton, MA/Brockton HS), who was second in one meter diving with 177 points, and fourth in three meter diving with 143.55 points. Junior Kim Moore (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) was third in the 1000 yard freestyle in 11:32.07, and fifth in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:41.72. Sophomore Morgan Cooper (Sunderland, MA/Frontier Regional HS) was fifth in the 100 freestyle in 57.78, and fourth in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.16.
"I was very happy with the way the team swam today," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Cathy Motta. "We had many athletes qualify for the New England Championships at this meet, and they usually don't qualify for that meet until after our training trip. The meet was very competitive with the addition of Bridgewater and Westfield. I'm excited to see what the second half of the season will bring."
The Corsairs will return to action when they visit Elms next Saturday.
