NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA --The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team won all six singles matches and defeated visiting Suffolk, 8-1, in their first dual match of the 2013 season at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Tuesday.
Three Corsairs were double winner. Seniors Angela Pollard (Portsmouth, RI/Portsmouth HS) and Allison Furtado (Fairhaven, MA/Fairhaven HS) defeated junior Adrianna Garrett (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North HS) and senior Allison Weisenbach (Hamden, CT/Tilton School), 8-3 at number two doubles. "We played very well in singles, after we struggled a little bit in the doubles, but that's a work in progress," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Doug Chapman. "Overall, everybody left smiling. Two freshmen, Rosalie Kimba and Katelyn Capone (Abington, MA/Abington HS) made their debuts and were successful."
The Corsairs improved to 1-0 with the victory, while the Rams dropped to 0-3 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Johnson & Wales Thursday. Suffolk will visit Johnson & Wales Saturday.
