GORHAM, Maine - The preseason favorite opening Little East Conference action Saturday afternoon on the road, as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth women's tennis team made quick work of Southern Maine, taking its second-straight 9-0 match.

How it Happened
The Corsair doubles set the tone for the second-straight match, allowing only two points in the three games. At No. 1, junior Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, Mass.) and senior Kerry Magoon (Marshfield, Mass.) toppled Courtney Jordan (Portland, Maine) and Ashley Owens (Penn Yan, N.Y.). The No. 2 pair of Mollie McCaffrey (Taunton, Mass.) and Jillian Reichert (Marion, Mass.) shut out senior Rikki Demoranville (Madawaska, Maine) and junior Margaret Smith (Farmingdale, Maine) while Rachel Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) and Melanie Wong (Somerset, Mass.) rounded out doubles play with a victory of their own.
In the singles matchups, the Corsairs took six-straight matches to complete the 9-0 decision. The trio of Lahaie, Samantha Rollings (Tiverton, R.I.), and Molina Oung (Bourne, Mass.) had notable performances, combining to allow just three points in their three individual victories. Freshman Michelle Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) put up a noteworthy display as well, finishing her opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
