WATERTOWN, Mass. -- The UMass Dartmouth women’s tennis team recorded its second straight sweep Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 non-league dual match victory over Lesley at Victory Field.
Senior Jenna Lahaie (Lakeville, Mass.) improved to 5-0 in singles play with a straight set triumph at the top position for the visiting Corsairs (3-2), while junior Jaime Fastino (Rehoboth, Mass.) and sophomore Michelle Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) each won for the fourth time in five singles outings on the year with straight set wins at respective number two and three spots. Junior Monika Reining (Linsengericht, Germany) and sophomores Rachel Aftandilian (Watertown, Mass.) and Emma Sokolovsky (Canton, Mass.) also notched straight set victories for UMass Dartmouth, which dropped only 15 games in singles action.
Lahaie and Fastino improved to 4-1 with an 8-4 win at number one doubles for the Corsairs, who also received 8-4 triumphs at the second spot from Reining and Rachel Aftandilian as well as at number three from the tandem of Michelle Aftandilian and sophomore Jordan Martin (Taunton, Mass.).
The host Lynx fall to 1-5 overall with the setback.
UMass Dartmouth travels to Holden, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Worcester State in a Little East Conference dual-match beginning at Noon, while Lesley heads to Bangor, Maine on Friday afternoon to square off with Husson in a North Atlantic Conference clash that begins at 3:00 pm.
