BOSTON, MA-A short-handed University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's tennis team was no match for Simmons in their non-conference match at the Simmons College Tennis Courts Thursday.
The Sharks swept all three doubles matches and went on to an 8-1 victory.
Sophomore Kelsey Grossmann (Holliston, MA/Holliston HS) earned the only victory of the day for the Corsairs, defeating Maile Mcleod in three sets, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3. At number five singles, freshman Juliet Levangie (Middleboro, MA/Coyle-Cassidy HS) lost to Jordan Borash in a super-tiebreaker, 6-7, 6-4, (10-5).
"Kelsey played a great match, and Juliet represented us very well as well," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Ralph Perry. "I think we would have done better if we had a full squad, but our team came in here and played well. We're looking forward to playing Western Connecticut in a big conference match on Saturday."
The Corsairs dropped to 4-1 with the defeat, while the Sharks improved to 3-3 with the victory. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they host Western Connecticut Saturday.
