NORTH ADAMS, MA-The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's women's tennis team won all six singles matches and defeated the host Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, 8-1, in a non-conference match at the Joseph Zavattaro Athletic Complex Monday afternoon.
Junior Amber Ubertini (Dalton, MA/Wahconah HS) and sophomore Kelsey Grossmann (Holliston, MA/ Holliston HS) defeated Katie Bodnar and Katherine Marchand at number two doubles, 8-0, and junior Blair Dalrymple (North Attleboro, MA/North Attleboro HS) and freshman Juliet Levangie (Middleboro, MA/Coyle Cassidy HS) downed Laura Laureano and Emily Minns at number three doubles, 8-2, to give UMass Dartmouth a 2-1 advantage entering the singles competition.
Ubertini defeated Bodnar at number two singles, 6-2, 6-1; Grossman downed Richards at number three singles, 6-1, 6-1; Dalrymple defeated Marchand at number four, 6-0, 6-0; and Levangie bested Minns at number six, 6-1, 6-2. Junior Amy Lopes (Dartmouth, MA/Dartmouth HS) defeated Kristin Banks at number one singles, 6-0, 6-1.
"We played well on a crisp autumn afternoon after a long ride," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Ralph Perry. "Our team played well, and we'd like to put together a winning streak and build up some momentum entering the Little East Conference playoffs."
The Corsairs improved to 8-3 with the victory, while the Trailblazers dropped to 1-9 with the defeat. UMass Dartmouth will return to action when they visit Newbury Tuesday.
