NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA-Both of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth's tennis teams will head north for their NCAA Tournament debuts.
The men's tennis team will head for seventh-ranked Williams, where they will face Neumann Friday at 2:00 p.m. as one member of a five-team field. The Knights are 17-3 and were champions of the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The winner of their match will face the host Ephs Saturday, while the championship match is scheduled for Sunday.
The UMD women will visit sixth-ranked Amherst, where they will face 18th-ranked Bowdoin Friday at 2:00 p.m. while participating in a six-team field. The Polar Bears were 8-8 and earned an at-large berth in the NCAAs after losing to Tufts, 5-0, in the first round of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Tournament. The winner of their match will play 19th-rated Tufts Saturday, while the title match is slated for Sunday. The winner of each regional tournament will advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 19-21, with the men at Claremont-McKenna-Scripps College in Southern California, and the women at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta.
