Krista Chauvin Earns LEC Women's Field Honors

NORTH DARTMOUTH, MA--Junior Krista Chauvin (Seekonk, MA/Seekonk HS/Stonehill) has once again been honored by the Little East Conference.

Chauvin has been named LEC Women's Field Athlete of the Week. It's the fourth time that Chauvin has won the award this spring.

At Saturday's LEC/New England Alliance Championships, Chauvin finished first in the hammer with a throw of 164 feet, four inches, winning both championships and earning All-New England honors. She was also second in the LEC and fourth in the Alliance in the javelin at 116-10.

On Thursday, Chauvin became only the third UMass Dartmouth representative to participate at the Penn Relays. She threw the hammer 168 feet, seven inches and finished seventh overall.

"I was very pleased," said UMass Dartmouth Head Coach Steve Gardiner.

"She did very well, and we're pleased with her performance," said UMass Dartmouth Assistant Coach Darren DeAndrade after Chauvin's performance in the Penn Relays.  "She was competing against Division I and II athletes, and did well."

The Corsairs will return to action this weekend at the New England Division III Championships at Colby.
